REVIEW- Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead

I’ve been fretting over this review for a long time. First off, who the hell am I to critique Lloyd Kaufman? The mad genius who brought us The Toxic Avenger, Sgt. Kabukiman, N.Y.P.D., and Tromeo and Juliet.  All of this is from a man who’s been in independent horror about as long as I’ve been alive. So I decided. I’m going to let those of you who have not seen this glorious piece of cinema know what it has to offer and why you should buy two copies of Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. One to watch and one to sleep with, and you can take that any way you please.

First off you get a horror (a pretty gory one at that), a musical, a love story and political commentary all rolled into one.

So in no particular order here’s what you get to feast your senses upon while you sit in a darkened room and masturbate to the greatness that is The Lloyd.

1. Desecration of an ancient Indian burial ground by an evil fast food corporation.
2. Butt plug of the undead
3. Extreme anal zombie fisting.
4. The humping of a cash register

5. Toilet cam. Nuff’ said…
6. Gratuitous nudity. Lots of gratuitous nudity.

7. Mysterious, green, vein covered, pulsating chicken eggs.

8. A cameo appearance by Ron Jeremy. (Woot).
9. Eat my meat you vegan whores!

10. Shit geyser.
11. Umm… More gratuitous nudity.
12. Lloyd Kaufman in drag.

13. A talking sloppy Jose.

14. Diaper fetish.
15. Necro-Beastial Hillbilly butt sex! (yeah, it’s as bad as it sounds…)

16. Ooooooo!… Flavor Pods!

17. Demon chickens.

18. Chicken zombies.
19. Chicken penis, err penis chicken… I don’t know….

20. At least 2 severed peckers. (Get it? Peckers? Chickens? Aww, fuck you, that was funny.)
21. One face getting peeled off.
22. Lots of lesbian make out scenes.

23. Did I mention big floppy titties?

24. Steroid abuse.
25. And finally underage drinking.

And those are just 25 off the top of my head. This thing has many more classic Troma gags. And of course it wouldn’t be Troma without a happy ending would it?

And if you’re one of those people who think they’re too good to watch a Troma movie. Don’t be an elitist asshole. Watch it. Enjoy it. Love it.
That being said, even though this is a Troma film, the production values are on the high side. The songs are well written and performed. They’re even a little catchy ( I found myself singing the chorus of “Slow Fast Food Love” while walking around the house.  My wife is still staring at me… Wait, scratch that. Now she’s singing along… heh…)
Like I said before, for a Troma flick production values are on the high side, but it’s still full of gory effects and all the cheesy gags that Lloyd is known for.
And don’t fret, whether you are straight, gay, lesbian, Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Christian, Mexican, Black, Native American, or White. Mr. Kaufman does his very best to offend everyone. If he left anyone out I’m sure he is heartbroken over it, but there’s only so much you can do in one film. I guess there’s always room in Poultrygeist 2…
